Three New DOT Numbers Awarded

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently awarded three new DOT numbers to auto glass-related product manufacturers; one is based in China, another in the U.S. and the third is based in Spain.

DOT No. 1007 went to Changzhou Modern Expo Technology Co. Ltd., which is based in Changzhou, Jiangsu, China.

DOT No. 1008 was awarded to SABIC Polymershapes, which is based in Jacksonville, Fla.

This company’s roots stretch back to the 1940s. The founding companies—Cadillac Plastics, based near Detroit, and Commercial Plastics, founded near Philadelphia—grew steadily over the ensuing decades, adding products, capabilities and services, according to officials. They opened sales branches throughout North America, and became two of the largest distributors in the plastics industry.

In 2000, both companies were purchased by GE Plastics and the joint entity was renamed GE Polymershapes. In 2007, GE Plastics and Polymershapes were acquired by SABIC, a leading global petrochemicals company.

DOT No. 1009 went to glazier Vinalsa, which is based in Aleson, La Rioja, Spain.
