Dakotaland Autoglass Expands

Though the winter weather “had been tough on business,” Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Dakotaland Autoglass has been expanding. It has acquired CR Autoglass, picked up a former Guardian distribution center and purchased the Praxair paint distribution business.

Dickinson, N.D.-based CR Autoglass is still running under the current branding. The CR Autoglass owner stayed on through the transition to new ownership.

“Weather has been tough on automotive glass business and the retail market is a bit quieter,” says Jon Anderson of Dakotaland Autoglass. “Certain markets are doing better than others and certain areas are doing very well.”

When Guardian announced it was exiting the automotive glass distribution business, Dakotaland stepped in to acquire its Denver facility late last year. The company now has two wholesale distribution locations in this market.

Meanwhile, the company has worked in the paint distribution business since the early 1990s. Anderson says being diversified is good for business.

“The Praxair paint distribution business really helps our paint business,” he explains.
