Report: AGRR Shops Account for $3.6 Billion in 2013 Collision Repair Receipts

Total sales in the collision repair industry were estimated at $40.1 billion in 2013, with automotive glass repair and replacement companies accounting for $3.6 billion of that total, according to the Auto Care Association’s Digital Collision Repair Trends Report.

Automotive glass represents 9 percent of the of total collision repair industry sales, officials note.

“The collision repair segment of the auto care industry includes the products and services used to repair and refinish motor vehicles’ bodies and glass,” according to the report.

The report offers a breakdown of collision repair receipts for 2013:

“Since 2006, the collision repair market has experienced very slow growth,” according to the report. “In 2013, service and repair receipts totaled an estimated $40.1 billion, down 0.2 percent from $40.2 billion in 2012. However, over the longer term since 2006, the segment has grown 0.2 percent annually.

“The market share of paint and body repair shops, dealer-operated body shops and automotive glass repair shops has remained relatively consistent with little variation in terms of absolute market share per year,” officials point out.

The report offers some insight into the growth of AGRR services in terms of collision repair receipts over the last seven years:

The Auto Care Association derived these figures for its report from the Digital Auto Care Factbook 2015, the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Automobile Dealers Association, the NADA industry analysis division and the NPD Group.
