Progressive Issues New Market Pricing

Progressive Insurance recently sent out a notice regarding its new policy on glass market pricing for static, dynamic and dual recalibrations. The auto insurance’s new pricing policy became effective for glass shops at the beginning of the month. Progressive notes that its new rate standards will not impact current guidelines for repair shops. This move comes eight weeks after glassBYTEs reported 43 insurance companies, which include MAPFRE, Erie and eight AAA locations, announced new network recalibration pricing.

The notice, originally obtained by Collision Hub, states Progressive will pay $500 for dual glass recalibrations, which require both a static and dynamic calibration, $275 for a dynamic calibration and $300 for a static calibration.

“Recalibration scan results must be retained for a minimum of three years, and Progressive reserves the right to conduct inspections of the recalibration equipment and documents,” a portion of the notice cited on Collision Hub reads. “The prices are the reasonable and necessary amount for calibration services. These rate standards do not impact the current collision pricing guidelines,” a portion of the notice reads.

The notice goes on to say recalibration documentation includes: ADAS feature(s) recalibrated, system generated date stamp, system generated start and stop time stamps, as well as a system-generated confirmation that the calibration was successful. The insurance company also notes “all recalibrations must be performed by certified trained technicians and according to the manufacturer guidelines.”

All administered by SGC. All the same price.
    Gee, what a coincidence.
Or is everyone in this industry blind?

  2. Buzz says:

There does not seem to be any consideration for time required to test drive the vehicle after calibration is done. This step also requires 2 employees in some cases.

  3. what about the wholesale business?
