The Phoenix Award Committee has recognized Sisecam chairperson Ahmet Kirman as its “Glass Person of the Year.” Officials say Kirman earned the award due to his contributions to developing the global glass industry.
Phoenix Award Committee chairperson Lincoln Brown says Kirman has made significant contributions to the development of the glass industry for 17 years. He adds Sisecam has become a global powerhouse under Kirman’s leadership.
“It is a tremendous honor to be presented with this prestigious award,” says Kirman. “My professional journey has included roles as a judge, an academic and a banker, culminating in my experience in the glass industry. It is impressive both in terms of motivation and responsibility to know that what we do is followed and appreciated in this sector. I would like to thank the distinguished members of the Committee.”
During his acceptance speech at the award ceremony in Como, Italy, Kirman highlighted the various ways the glass industry can solve global challenges, including solving unequal income distribution by becoming more inclusive, diverse and sustainable.
