Windshield Chips or Cracks? Insurers Crack Down on Glass Claims

Auto glass damage happens so often in Arizona that insurers here are required to offer no deductible glass coverage. It used to be filing glass claims wouldn’t have much impact on your rates or renewals. That has changed.

“Even though a window chip or windshield replacement is not your fault, it’s still a claim that has to be paid out,” says Kristi Redding.

    It seems to me if the insurance company is encouraging you to repair the rock crack preventing costly replacement and they wave your deductible to motivate you to do it then they should not be able to raise your rates because of a windshield repair claim. Paul
