Tesla to Update Windshield Wiper System

Tesla vehicles made after 2018 do not use windshield rain sensors but instead employ autopilot cameras that feed data to a computer vision system, according to AutoNews.

Based on its algorithms, the system determines whether the windscreen wipers need to start and how fast they need to go.

However, according to Tesla owners, windshield wipers often start when there is no precipitation or do not start when there is. Also, the wipers’ speed doesn’t match the actual intensity of the precipitation.

Tesla’s artificial intelligence engineer responded to the complaints, saying the company is preparing to release improvements shortly.
