Where’d the Roof Go? Vans Recalled for Detaching Sunroofs

Ford Motor Company recalled some Transit Connect vehicles because their panoramic roof panels could detach while driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that the April 26 recall applies to certain 2017-2029 Ford Transit Connect vans. The panoramic roof panel may be poorly bonded to the vehicle, allowing it to come loose as the car goes down the road.

According to NHTSA, the recall could affect about 1,315 vehicles, and Ford plans to mail recall letters on May 20. NHTSA says owners of the affected vehicles can take them to their dealers, and the dealers will remove, clean and reinstall the roof panels for free.

Ford advises vehicle owners affected by recall 24S29 to contact its customer service at 1-866-436-7332. NHTSA says owners can also contact their safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (1-800-424-9153 for the hearing impaired) or visit its website.
