Michael Macaluso Says He Is Only Looking Forward

Driven Brands’ Michael Macaluso has taken on the presidential responsibilities at Auto Glass Now.

Auto Glass Now (AGN) has a new captain at its helm. After Nick Ouimet resigned as president of the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company, Michael Macaluso took over his responsibilities.

Macaluso is the executive vice president of the Paint, Collision and Glass (PC&G) division at AGN’s parent company, Driven Brands. He has been with Driven Brands since 2015. Though Macaluso will not take on the title of president for AGN, he has assumed Ouimet’s leadership position within the company.

Macaluso has a history of working in auto glass. He saw Driven Brands first enter the industry when it acquired the Canadian auto glass company Clairus Group in 2019. Macaluso helped integrate AGN when Driven Brands acquired it in 2021.

“The continuity’s there with Driven Brands and me,” Macaluso says. “I’ve been involved more behind the scenes, but now [I’m also involved] in front of the scenes.”

Macaluso says that despite the major transitions AGN has undergone with its acquisition, Driven Brands has been working methodically to help AGN succeed.

“Nothing good comes easy, and nothing long-term comes easy,” he says. “So, we’re committed to the long-term success of the business.”

According to Macaluso, AGN has fully integrated the individual auto glass businesses it has acquired into the company. He says the company now shares the same brand, processes, point-of-sale system, phone system, lead-management system, call center and payroll system.

“This is hard to do,” Macaluso says. “Especially in glass. The glass industry is a lot more complicated and complex than many other industries because of the multiple customer sets, the multiple delivery methods and the fragmentation. So, we took our time to do this right.”

Macaluso is eager to see their labor pay off.

“I’m really excited to continue getting even deeper and to help our Auto Glass Now business grow and succeed and win across the country,” he says.

He pointed to AGN’s current humorous marketing campaign as “the first step in a multi-year journey” in building AGN’s brand.

Going forward, Macaluso listed several goals for AGN. The company plans to stay abreast of the digital realm as it develops and launches new products. According to Macaluso, AGN will also ramp up the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration portion of its business. He says ADAS calibration is becoming increasingly necessary with newer vehicles, and performing more calibrations will help AGN expand what he called their “commercial and insurance partnerships.” Safety is also a primary concern.

“Ensuring we’re doing [calibration] properly, doing it every time we have to and really just providing a service to all of our customers that they expect and want,” Macaluso says.

For Macaluso, AGN’s current and future success comes back to the company’s foundation.

“It’s in our name: Auto Glass Now,” he says. “We do auto glass, and we’re going to do it now. We want to do it faster. We want to do it better. We want to have the best customer experience for a customer, that local feel.”
