General Motors has warned dealers that certain models’ sunroofs may open spontaneously.
According to a Preliminary Information Bulletin issued March 7, the sunroofs on some 2023-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles could open without anyone touching the sunroof switch. The bulletin says this is likely caused by an “issue in the overhead roof console microprocessor.”
GM had not developed an improved system by the time it issued the bulletin but assured dealers that engineers are working on a fix. The automaker also instructed dealers to “completely close the sunroof and then remove the sunroof fuse F54DR in the RH I/P junction block X51R, which will disable the sunroof.”
