An auto glass business based in the broader Detroit area announced a “Free Windshield Safety Check” campaign for drivers in its community. Officials say the program is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of driving with damaged or improperly installed windshields.
Save on Auto Glass’s initiative is part of its ongoing mission to make road safety more accessible to all drivers in Metro Detroit and surrounding areas. Company officials say that the snow, salt, potholes and flying debris, on Michigan roads frequently cause easily overlooked windshield damage.
“Most people don’t realize how much their windshield contributes to overall vehicle safety,” a company spokesperson says. “A small chip or crack can compromise your visibility or, worse, the structural integrity of your vehicle in a collision. Our free safety check campaign is about educating drivers and helping them stay safe without any pressure or hidden costs.”
Officials say the company will look for safety-threatening chips and cracks, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensor misalignments, faulty prior installations, and damage that might qualify for insurance-covered repair.
