BMW of America issued a voluntary recall because the windshields on some of its vehicles may not be sealed correctly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The NHTSA reports BMW has recalled certain 2026 X5 Plug-in Hybrid, X5, and X7 vehicles because their windshields might be improperly sealed, meaning water can leak into the cars’ power distribution boxes or electronic control units.
About 1,405 vehicles were recalled, the NHTSA says. BMW dealers will inspect the windshield seals on the vehicles and repair them for free if any leaks are detected. The dealers will also replace the vehicle control units and wiring for free as necessary. The automaker plans to mail owner notification letters October 17.
