International Motors has issued voluntary recalls on some of its school and commercial buses for potential windshield wiper failure, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
According to the reports International Motors filed with the NHTSA, the wiper module crankshaft assemblies on about 4,778 2026 IC Bus CESB school buses and just three 2026 IC Bus CECB commercial buses are not welded properly, meaning the driver’s side windshield wipers might not work.
“An inoperative left-side windshield wiper may reduce visibility in certain driving conditions, increasing the risk of a crash,” the reports say.
According to the reports, filed Sept. 25, International Motors first identified the problem in August. The affected school buses were manufactured between March 11 and Aug. 26. The affected commercial buses were manufactured May 12 and 13.
Owners will be notified of both recalls on Nov. 24, the report says, and dealers will inspect and replace the modules for free, as needed.
