Autocar LLC has recalled several of its semi-trucks for automatic emergency braking (AEB) issues.
According to Autocar’s report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the AEB systems on some of its 2025-2026 Autocar ACX trucks could fail. The recall affects about 239 vehicles.
The report says Autocar personnel “identified a unit with incorrect AEB system software” during an internal inspection on Aug. 25. Autocar reprogrammed the unit and corrected the issue. It “quarantined, inspected and reprogrammed” all in-house units between August and October. After determining that the issue had been resolved, Autocar ended its internal investigation on Oct. 22, presented the information to its management team on Oct. 23 and issued the voluntary recall on Oct. 30.
Autocar’s report says these semis contain a software error that causes the AEB to fail while the truck is turning, though it reactivates once the wheels are straight. Autocar will notify dealers of the defect on Dec. 18 or 19. On the same date, the carmaker will notify owners and provide instructions on how to schedule a free inspection and repair.
