DENSO Honored by General Motors as 2005 Corporation of the Year DENSO Corp. headquartered in Kariya, Aichi prefecture, Japan., has announced that it was honored with General Motors' Corporation of the Year award during a ceremony on April 29. This is the third time DENSO has earned this recognition; DENSO also received this award for the years 1996 and 2000. "DENSO's commitment to innovation, quality, delivery and cost is greatly appreciated by GM," said Bo Andersson, vice president of GM Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "It is a pleasure to work with a company that is so dedicated to meeting customer needs and requirements. We salute DENSO and its employees for their hard work." "This is a monumental honor," said Mitsuo "Matt" Matsushita, president and chief executive officer of DENSO International America, DENSO's North American headquarters. "When DENSO first came to Detroit nearly 40 years ago, the red lights shimmering on top of the GM building scared us. We couldn't imagine that DENSO could ever earn such an award." DENSO also was one of 85 companies named Supplier of the Year by GM. The award recognizes DENSO's heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and navigation systems. DENSO has earned the Supplier of the Year award 12 times. The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Award winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price.
