Changes at American Family Insurance
Mark Afable has been named vice president of claims for American Family Mutual
Insurance Co., Madison, Wis.
He had served as American Family's vice president of government affairs
and compliance since 1998. In that capacity, he led the company's government
relations and consumer affairs programs, and also directed the corporate
compliance function.
On October 17, Solera had announced that American Family has selected
Audatex, a Solera company, as its vehicle direct repair claims management
and technology partner. According to the release, American Family, the
third-largest mutual property and casualty insurer in the nation, had
decided to switch to Audatex for its vehicle repair claims technology,
covering more than 2,700 users. It is the fourth agreement Audatex has
signed with a top 10 insurance carrier in the U.S. alone since Solera's
acquisition of Audatex.
As the new vice president of claims, vehicle repair claims and the switch
to Audatex is "something that would be under his responsibility,"
a company spokesman told glassBYTEs.
Afable, a graduate of Marquette University with degrees in political science
and law, joined American Family in 1994. He previously worked in a private
law practice, served as counsel for the National Association of Independent
Insurers (NAII) and also worked in the law department for Allstate Insurance.
