Autoglass® Reports Decrease in UK Road
Maintenance Budgets
October 14, 2011
Belron's United Kingdom company, Autoglass, has reported that many
local road maintenance budgets are down in the United Kingdom, as
the result of a recent Freedom on Information request conducted
by the auto glass retailer.
The company says reductions of approximately $23.6 million (USD)
have been made in this area, and company officials suggest consumers
may be at risk due to this.
"Cuts in the road maintenance program will inevitably mean
potholes go unfilled and cracks are left unrepaired," says
Matthew Mycock, Autoglass managing director. "This will cause
discomfort and inconvenience to drivers, damage to their vehicles
and even jeopardize their safety. Every day, we hear from our customers
that traveling around parts of Britain is becoming a nightmare because
of the state of the roads and this is not likely to improve in the
foreseeable future."
