New York International Auto Show Underway

The New York International Auto Show started last Friday, April 14 and runs through next Sunday, April 23. The event, held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, draws over a million people to see more than a thousand vehicles in 850,000 square feet of exhibit space.

Visitors to the show are seeing a number of new models.

For example, there is the new Acura MD-X Concept luxury performance SUV which features bold, sleek exterior styling indicative of the next generation MDX production model. The MD-X Concept is fashioned as a true driver's SUV, with a low, wide stance and aggressive design. Its sleek surface lines are modeled after a high-powered mega-yacht.

The sleek cabin features a flush mounted windshield, which improves aerodynamics while adding to the MD-X Concept's smooth and flowing design.

Also interesting at the show is the new Scion FUSE Sports Coupe Concept vehicle which features a visor-like wraparound windshield.

The design goal was to push the limits of a coupe concept by combining entertainment, digital technology, and versatility into one sinister looking package. From the side, the FUSE has a low, aggressive stance with a race helmet-inspired wraparound window that provides a panoramic view. The visor-like wraparound windshield is balanced by a strong C-pillar, adding a sense of security and protection.
