Belron's Blake Honored for Red Cross Fundraising Efforts

Betsy Blake, director of purchasing for North America for Safelite AutoGlass® and its United Kingdom-based parent company, Belron®, has been named the 2009 Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year for the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus. The award follows Blake's success with the 21st Annual Red Cross Golf Classic held in 2008. Blake's team raised $275,000 at that event.

Blake began volunteering with the Red Cross in 2004.

"I began volunteering with the Red Cross to give back to the community and to support a responsible organization that takes such care of its community members," Blake says. "Once I saw the impact the Red Cross had, it became clear to me that I needed to be a part of the organization."

Blake served as chairperson of the Red Cross golf sales committee for 2008-2009 and also has served as a member of the finance committee. She was elected as a board member in 2005.

To raise $275,000 for last year's event, Blake and her committee, along with her colleagues at Safelite, secured donations from existing donors and community partners, and recruited many new Red Cross supporters.

Blake joined Safelite AutoGlass in 1990 and is currently responsible for managing vehicle replacement glass and other direct-spend suppliers for the United States and Canada.
