Some Brooklyn, N.Y., auto glass shops are seeing a surge in business this week, as a result of the tornado that struck the borough last Thursday. Francine Esposito of Affordable Auto Glass says her company has done 17 mobile jobs and 35 in-shop, on both windshields and backlites, since the tornado struck two business days ago. "It's definitely had an effect here," she says. "We've had a lot of business behind it-people coming in with trees in their cars, and branches." Mike Higgins, manager of Ridge Glass in Brooklyn, says his shop has seen a lot of flat glass work, but not as much auto glass. "Most of the cars here have been totaled," he says, "so the windshields are irreplaceable." Steve Nelson of Palais Glass Co. Inc., also in Brooklyn, however, is still awaiting tornado calls. "[We haven't had any calls] yet, no, but soon hopefully," he says. |
