DuPont Glass Laminating Solutions has announced a surcharge of $0.29 per square meter for all grades of DuPont Butacite polyvinyl butyral interlayer, effective July 15, 2004. The surcharge will be applied globally, indexed to the price of natural gas and adjusted quarterly.

DuPont cites unprecedented and sustained increases in petrochemical feedstock, energy and freight costs and a concurrent tightening of capacity as significant reasons for this surcharge. According to the company, the surcharge is necessary to prevent any further deterioration in already weak reinvestment economics.
