GM Recalls '07 Equinox and Torrent for Glass Primer Issues

General Motors Corp. has issued a recall for the glass used in the 2007 Chevrolet Equinix and the 2007 Pontiac Torrent, according to the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA). The company says an incorrect primer may have been used when installing the windshields originally and that the same primer may also have been applied to the liftgate glass and the stationary sidelites, according to NHTSA. In the event of a crash, NHTSA says the windshield may not be retained to the extent required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 212, "Windshield Mounting."

Upon return of the vehicles, dealers will replace the windshields, liftgate glass and the stationary sidelites, according to NHTSA.

The recall began on June 14, 2007.
