GlasWeld Partners with Polar Bears International in New EcoFusion Initiative
Representatives of Bend, Oregon-based GlasWeld Systems met with the president
of Polar Bears International, Robert Buchanan Tuesday at the Oregon Zoo
in Portland, Ore. The group met to discuss "what auto glass has to
do with polar bears?" said president Mike Boyle, president of the
windshield and scratch removal equipment manufacturer.
Boyle said they are related.. He then went on to speak about the impact
of the glass replacement industry on the environment, saying that 12,000
metric tons of used auto glass went into landfills in Oregon last year.
In response to this GlasWeld is in the process of launching a new environmental
initiative it calls EcoFusion. It is the goal of this initiative to promote
"understanding of the global impact of glass and repair
in
order to effect global change" said Boyle.
GlasWeld chose to form ties with Polar Bears International due to Boyle's
interest in the plight of the polar bears in Hudson Bay, AK. The company
also plans to use the mammoth mammal as the mascot for its EcoFusion initiative.
"We're tremendously dedicated to this," said Boyle. "We
are asking the entire industry to look at this and join in our initiative."
