The Hartford of Hartford, Conn., currently is promoting its auto glass service program via e-mails to insurance agents and glass shops. "We are promoting the glass program through increased communications to agents and highlighting the many benefits it offers for glass repairs," says Joe Loparco, a spokesperson for the company. The Hartford says it works with Safelite Solutions and "other network providers" to provide its glass service and that its customers can request auto glass service 24/7 via a toll-free number, and encourages customers to keep in mind that any damage less than 6 inches long can be replaced. Likewise, The Hartford also notes that it waives deductibles in cases where the glass can be repaired. Finally, Hartford says it provides mobile service and will offer a national warranty on service from "approved providers like Safelite Auto Glass … as long as the policyholder owns the vehicle." Loparco says customer choice is an important aspect of the program. "Vehicle owners always have the choice of where to go for their glass work," he says. "Safelite administers the program for us. They work with a number of owned facilities as well as an established network of non-owned glass shops. Of course, vehicle owners may also choose to use non-network shops if they prefer."
