Automotive Industry Grows in Kentucky
The Kentucky towns of Carrollton, Winchester and Hopkinsville, Ky., are
each growing, thanks in part to the automotive industry and companies
located there that are geared toward the industry.
According to a report in Area Development magazine, Dow Corning is planning
a $60 million investment into its Carrollton facility. The investment
is forecasted to add 30 new jobs to the plant.
The magazine also reports that Sekisui Chemical will begin manufacturing
interlayer film and sound acoustic film for auto glass use in Winchester
under a new joint venture, Sekisui S-LEC America. The plant will add approximately
80 new jobs.
Finally, Maintainer Corp., manufacturer of mechanic's service truck bodies,
among other things, is locating its new facility in Hopkinsville, the
magazine also reported. The 50,000-square-foot facility represents a $3.25
million investment that is expected to create 60 new jobs.
