Now NACE

NACE, the annual auto collision trade show, is reinforcing its position as the single most important auto glass event of the year. Currently underway at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NACE is only part of the much larger Auto Week, but the Auto Glass Expo @ NACE section of the event ties in with a variety of AGRR events.

Included in Auto Glass Week has been the AGRSS Conference, the NWRA Conference, The Windshield Repair Olympics and the Auto Glass Technician Olympics, as well as the Independent Glass Association (IGA) Fall Conference, which starts today.

The NACE show is a prime meeting place for the AGRR industry to show itself off to other auto segments, and for the AGRR industry to see what is going on in other areas of the auto market.

In addition to the state of the industry (still feeling pain) and the success of the show (great), the two big topics at Auto Glass Expo @ NACE were the sale of PPG’s AG components to a private equity and the integration of Safelite into Belron.

The exhibitors in the Auto Glass Expo @ NACE are expressing satisfaction with the show and attendees. Some exhibitors reported minor glitches in the set up but still prefer the larger show with its increased range over a smaller auto glass exclusively event.

Kerry Wanstrath, Glass Technology, said, “It’s a better show for us than last year. The layout is better with the Olympics right beside our exhibit area.”

Martin Bobinger, Gold Glass Group, concurred, “Things are going great.”

The NACE show winds up tomorrow afternoon.
