AGRR Legislation Before New York State Legislature New York state legislature is looking at legislation this week that could change the face of the auto glass replacement industry in the state. Senate Bill S03429 and State Assembly Bill A07199, are in front of the respective Committees on Insurance this week. If passed, each bill would prohibit insurance agents from recommending or suggesting a shop to repair or replace damaged auto glass unless "expressly requested" by the insured driver. Additionally, the bill would authorize the superintendent of insurance to publish "regulations relating to the replacement of automobile glass," and those regulations have been defined as "at least as stringent as the standards developed by the Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standard (AGRSS). Both bills are expected to be voted on this week. Stay tuned to glassBYTEs.com™ for more information as it becomes available. CLICK HERE to view Senate Bill S03429.
