GM’s OnStar to Expand Crash Notification Capabilities

GM has announced that, the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu is featuring a series of unique sensors, strategically located throughout the vehicle, that will notify OnStar in the event of a crash, even if the airbag does not deploy. The sensors will collect information about the severity of the crash, which GM says is designed to help emergency dispatchers determine the proper type of emergency response personnel.

The advanced notification system will be available on additional Onstar-equipped vehicles in the 2005 model year and beyond.
