PPG's Bialosky Says Sale of Auto Glass Business Expected to be Completed in Fourth Quarter

PPG spokesperson Betsy Bialosky told glassBYTEs.com™/AGRR magazine that she expects the sale of PPG's auto glass business to Platinum Equity to be completed in the fourth quarter, and until then it's impossible to tell what the future may hold. As for personnel changes and possible plans for the company once the sale is complete, Bialosky says the future is up to Platinum Equity.

"Platinum will make that decision [regarding personel] when it takes over when the final transaction will be completed," she says. "That's down the road for Platinum."

She adds, "We don't know how many people will be affected, but in all of those businesses we have 4,400 people."

When asked about the rumors that Guardian was a possible purchaser, Bialosky declined to comment.

And, of all the suitors for the auto glass business rumored to be in existence, why was Platinum Equity the preferred one?

"I can't get into that either," she says.
