Pilkington Automotive worldwide president Pat Zito met with the mayor of Wuhan, the capitol of Hubei province in China, recently, and received the pledge of Mr. Li Xiansheng to support the company's expanding operation in the city.

Li expressed hope that Pilkington would accelerate the development of its automotive glass joint venture, the Wuhan Yaohua Pilkington Safety Glass Company. Zito advised that the rapid development of the automotive industry in the region, the support of the local government in providing sound infrastructure and a well-developed education system made Wuhan a strong candidate for expansion of Pilkington's automotive glass interests in China.

Zito and automotive vice presidents Mike Endo, Tim Izzett, Vito Sassanelli and Richard Pike visited and reviewed operations and systems for launching new business wins in China for customers such as Honda, VW, Nissan and PSA.
