by Tami Faram

A woman was killed Friday as she came in contact with a forklift at the Pilkington North America glass plant in Rossford, Ohio.

According to the Rossford police department, April Waxler, 30, of Toledo, Ohio, sustained fatal injuries following an incident that occurred at the Pilkington plant at about 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 22.

"We're continuing the investigation and working closely with OSHA [Occupational Safety and Health Administration],"says Gregory Narsh, an attorney with the Detriot, Mich., law offices of Pepper Hamilton LLP. Narsh works as a legal liaison between Pilkington and OSHA on various matters including Friday's fatal incident.

According to a press release, Waxler, a production worker at the Ohio plant, came in contact with a company forklift. Waxler was dead upon arrival to the hospital.

"This has been devastating to the employees," says Narsh. "Immediately that day, we had grief counselors there [at the plant]," he says.

The full accident report has not yet been released.
