Pilkington Closes Plant in Eisenerz, Austria

The NSG Group, the parent company of Pilkington, has announced that it is closing the Pilkington automotive glass plant in Eisenerz, Austria. Company officials cite "rapidly deteriorating conditions in the European automotive industry, which have led to a sharp reduction in orders," as the reason for the closing.

The closure affects 69 employees at the plant, which produces windshields for both the original-equipment and aftermarket segment. NSG expects to release a detailed schedule for the closure within the next few weeks.
