Safelite Issues Memo, Implements Paper Invoice Fee, Requires Proof of Continuing Education, Certification

Shop owners began receiving a memo from Safelite last week stating that amendments to its Network Participation Agreement will take effect on June 1, 2006, including the addition of fees for processing paper invoices. According to the memo, the fees will be $13 per replacement invoice and $9 per repair invoice, while electronic data interchange and web billing will not be subjected to additional fees.

Manual check payments will also be subjected to a .5 percent fee, starting August 31, 2006.

Additionally, the memo requires participating shops to be able to prove "ongoing training and certification as to safe installation procedures and proper use of windshield adhesives" if requested and gives participating shops 30 days to dispute a short-paid invoice.
