No More Splash: New Tire Design to Cut Down on High Splashes Michelin has introduced the XZA2® Antisplash™ tire for tractor trailer rigs, designed to "reduce splash trajectory height by more than 50 percent compared to standard truck tires." The new design is marketed as keeping water from splashing onto the windshields of other vehicles on the road and allowing those driving near big rigs to maintain visibility, as well as allowing truck drivers to more adequately see vehicles more clearly in their side-view mirrors. The technology used to create the XZA2 utilizes a design of "more than 7,000 trapesoidal micro-sipes" that break water surface tension and reportedly improve traction on wet roads.
