Australian Glass Coating Repellant Product Introduced in U.S.

Windshield Welding Systems, Woodbridge, Va., is now distributing Nanoprotect ® automotive glass repellant treatment in the United States. The product is made by Nanotec Pty. Ltd. based in Sydney, Australia.

Windshield Welding Systems is distributing the product directly, explains John W. Moore, president. "We're targeting the technicians in the field who want to add a service and car dealerships initially," he told GlassBYTEs™.

Sunshine Windshield Repair in Douglasville, Ga., which serves the Atlanta area with repair-only service, is the first customer in the U.S. for the product. However, Moore says that he has quite a few other companies looking to use the product. "My goal is to have every installer or repair-only shop using this product," he states.

The nanotechnology product is 20 nm thick, and according to the supplier this is between 500 and 25,000 times thinner than conventional silicon-based coatings, which have a film thickness between 10 and 500 micron.

The supplier says the ultra thin treatment is abrasion resistant, extremely long lasting and UV stable and that on a windshield the lifetime is more than 30,000 miles.

Windshield Welding System is a professional applicator for Nanotec's glass treatments. It is associated with SEMA, SCCA race car Sponsorship for the Cowle's Ford Mustang and the Mobile Tech News Expo. The company specializes in all aspects of glass and windshield repairs and coating technologies.
