The Most Dangerous Weekend of the Year

The upcoming holiday weekend has been the most dangerous weekend for traveling on American roads for more than 15 years, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. On average, more people die in motor-vehicle related accidents during the July 4th weekend than on New Year's Day and December 23rd combined.

Erie Insurance's quarterly mailing, In-Sync magazine, recommends planning road trips to avoid heavy traffic, poor weather and high-speed areas whenever possible, staying sober and paying attention to the road rather than cell phones, meals or other in-car distractions to help prevent becoming a stastic.
