New Device Measures Curing Effectiveness

Chicago-based UV Process Supply has introduced the TFC-9000, a thin film calorimeter (TFC) that tests inks, coatings and adhesives to ensure they are curing consistently, batch-to-batch. After measuring the exothermic heat reaction from a polymerizing sample via a highly sensitive sensor, the TFC-9000 performs a rapid analysis of the incoming data. Following a 10-20 second sample analysis, the TFC-9000 displays four measured test results: time to reach peak temperature; peak temperature in BTUs; slope of the temperature rise; and told energy emitted by curing reaction in BTUs. The TFC-9000 works as a standalone measurement system or can be connected to a computer through a serial port. In addition, the captured data can be exported and plotted to an Excel graph for quick and easy analysis.
