GEICO and Safelite Team Up Free VIN Etching and Auto Safety Fair

The PRNewsire is reporting that GEICO and Safelite AutoGlass have teamed up to provide free vehicle identification number (VIN) etching and free windshield inspections to motorists on Saturday, April 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at GEICO facilities in Macon, Ga.

Insurance experts believe that VIN etching can be a powerful means of protecting vehicles from theft.

"We're seeing that VIN etching is a good deterrent," said Sandra Hampton heads of GEICO's glass claims unit. "Car thieves don't want to go to the expense of having all the windows replaced. It's one of several ways we recommend to help keep vehicles safe."

Also on April 24, Safelite will be inspecting windshields at no charge and repairing and replacing auto windshields for car owners who qualify for the service. Drivers need to bring auto insurance documents to take advantage of the offer.
