Rumors of Pilkington North America's acquisition of Autostock, which have been circulating for some time and have turned into a tempest the last two days, seem to be real.

According to AGRR/glassBYTEs™ sources who wish to remain anonymous, the deal was completed yesterday.

With the Toledo, Ohio-based company's move into accessories (see glassBYTEs item July 6, 2005) the Autostock acquisition looks logical.

Phone calls to both Pilkington and TCGI, parent of Autostock, have not been returned.

Autostock Distribution headquartered Burnaby, B.C., has more than 45 locations in North America. In addition to distributing automotive replacement glass for domestic and foreign vehicles, it is a distributor of a range of automotive aftermarket accessories products.
