Sentinel Group Recognized as Safelite Group Glass Supplier
of the Year
Safelite Group recently awarded its first Glass Supplier of the Year
Award to Charleston, S.C.-based Sentinel Group.
"Our partnership with Sentinel Group is one we value highly because
of the customer service and professionalism that they demonstrate,"
said Paul Groves, Safelite director of materials management. "Our
glass supplier recognition program is extremely competitive. Our suppliers
have told us that they like to know how they are doing, and our scorecard
system does just that."
North American glass distributor, Sentinel Group, is a wholly-owned subsidiary
of the PG Group based in South Africa. They have supplied Safelite with
tempered glass pieces under such brands as Armourplate and Safevue for
the last 15 years. They earned the top spot as Safelite's Glass Supplier
of the Year by ranking highest among 12 other truckload suppliers.
"We view this recognition as a tremendous accomplishment," said
Mike Martini, Sentinel vice president and general manager. "Our companies
work well together. Safelite clearly defines their expectations, and we
strive to meet them. We are very serious about where we rank each month,
and we do everything we can to provide superior service and products to
Safelite."
Safelite maintains an extensive scorecard for each supplier. Each is evaluated
monthly based on a variety of criteria, including fill rate, packaging
quality, the time it takes from order to delivery and invoice accuracy.
"To us it's not all about the price," said Groves. "The
overall service the supplier offers is the key to them earning the highest
weighted score and ranking at the top of the list."
