The 60-shop auto glass chain Glass America has been sold to a management group led by David Rolfing. The sale has led to speculation that European auto glass giant Belron may begin operating in the States again soon. Rolfing previously had run the successful Windshields America company, which was owned by Belron. "It's a market we will come back to," said Belron chief group executive officer Gary Lubner of the United States in an exclusive interview with AGRR magazine in late June. (The September-October issue of AGRR includes an extensive interview, along with a 15-page report about Belron.) Terms of the sale were not disclosed and all 60 locations are expected to continue operation. Glass America was sold by B.P. Capital of Oak Brook, IL. The Glass America flat glass operations in Illinois and Florida were not owned by B.P and are not effected by the sale. |
