Minnesota Department of Commerce Enters Settlement with Auto-Owners Insurance

Safelite Asks Court for Summary Judgment in Minnesota Case

Safelite Group and Safelite Solutions have filed a motion for summary judgment in their lawsuit against the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Commerce. USAA Will Monitor and Audit Safelite Solutions

San Antonio, Texas-based USAA Casualty Insurance Co. will conduct monthly audits of Safelite Solutions (its third-party automotive glass claims administrator) and has updated its procedures to eliminate any function that could be interpreted as adjusting, according to a report it submitted to the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Safelite’s Complaint Against Minnesota Attorney General Is Voluntarily Dismissed

Safelite Group and Safelite Solutions have voluntarily dismissed the complaint against Lori Swanson, in her official capacity as Attorney General of Minnesota, without prejudice in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota. The complaint remains against the second defendant—the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Safelite Group and Safelite Solutions have petitioned the Minnesota Supreme Court to review a decision by the appellate court that upholds the settlement agreement between the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Insurance Division, and Auto Club Group. The settlement requires Auto Club Group to “cease and desist from using Safelite Solutions, or any other subsidiary of Safelite Group Inc., as its administrator of automotive glass claims in Minnesota,” according to the settlement agreement.
